2012

Party Season 2012 was pretty BIG. It creeped in early November, and it’s been relentless, till now. Hence, the lack of blog posts. No time. Haha!

Anyway, am on a 22-day drinking run. Today, Jan 7, I did not drink. Finally. (But then again the night’s still young!)

So Party Season has just ended for me, and it was intense.

2012 went in a flash. The human race is still here tho, unfortunately for the other species.

A good year. Managed to do quite a bit rather than sit on my ass and waste precious life. Managed to grow spiritually & personally too.

Plan to travel domestically more often this year, esp on weekends. Might even do the Rainforest World Music Fest again after a three-year boycott. And hopefully at least one major overseas trip to a new country. Bro wants to hit Cuba.

Health-wise, sallgood. And thanks to Kamliari, my liver is now brand new!

2013 should be even better for me personally. Also, for the world i think. People are becoming less religious but more spiritual. They’re also more aware, and can see thru the bullshit being fed to us. Even people in US are realizing they’re being screwed by their government and corporations and the president; about time too.

Anyway, all the best for the year yall! Take less, give more. Change the world. Salud!

Koh Lipe baby!

Hit the southern Thai isle for my birthday the last few days. The trip required us to go thru Langkawi.

No complaints there. So we did an overnight.

It was an opportunity to stock-up on all sorts of drinks for the trip.

Landed straight at Laila’s Bar at Cenang Beach. The owner G is a cool ex-beach bum

I had partied till 5am the night before, so was hoping for a relatively early nite on Langkawi. To be ready for Lipe n all.

Balls. No chance

By the time i took a chilly ride on my scooter back to the room, morning prayers were in the air. And i had yet to even open my luggage!

No time. Haha

Never looked at a chair dat way!

Chillin at the Langkawi harbour before the boat to Lipe

Lipe, otw to the resort

Landed, scored beers at the beach cafe n got in right away! Again, never saw my luggage till late

Cocktail of the night: Skyfell (Single malt served with exclusive sky-falling rainwater)

Afternoon drinks

The trip’s official beer

I managed to make time to for a sit-down dinner

Layaning fireshow at Reggae Bar

I shoved a lamp in to create our glowing bar on da beach. Haha

Kid had his own stash

Joyce n d fishies at our first snorkeling point

Landed on a secluded beach..

..and partied

Stumbled on a strange lake near the beach

The life. I HAD to buy that floating bar. Will be very handy

Party guest

Yea!

Beers at Lipe are priced similarly as Langkawi, ie about 5 bucks at a bar, 3 bucks at a convenience store. However it’s best to BYO other liquids from Lgk.

Sleep was a premium (no time). Definitely a great trip!

I hear Tioman Island is similar these days, with it being chilled-out, duty-free n all. Might hit that next.

Brain damage: 8/10

Farewell, Palace

Heard some significant news last week from Antares. The Bamboo Palace, my escape / hideaway in KKB, is no more.

Its been real

It went out in a blaze of glory. A fire ended its glorious seven-year run.

In my fave hammock

I lurve every bit of it. The two semi-open-air rooms, the happening living room where it all went down, the funky kitchen downstairs, the straw-hat lampshades, and the nature-themed bathroom; with a proper flush toilet.

And of course the two hammocks with a view of the mountains…

..and sometimes, a rainbow

Some pix of the Palace at the mid of this previous post, where i practically had the Palace all to myself for five days. It was an unreal experience.

There’s also this video of a coffee-jam session in the Palace kitchen.

Antares has been cool about it. Renewal n stuff. He wrote bout it here. WITH pictures of it in flames.

I gotta say, i’m kinda devastated. Am afraid to go back there, coz i wanna remember it as it used to be. All that’s physically left is d kitchen sink.

Well. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that nothing stays the same.

So squeeze d best out of every experience, and every moment.

Goodbye Palace. At least you checked-out in style.
