Farewell, Palace

Heard some significant news last week from Antares. The Bamboo Palace, my escape / hideaway in KKB, is no more.

Its been real

It went out in a blaze of glory. A fire ended its glorious seven-year run.

In my fave hammock

I lurve every bit of it. The two semi-open-air rooms, the happening living room where it all went down, the funky kitchen downstairs, the straw-hat lampshades, and the nature-themed bathroom; with a proper flush toilet.

And of course the two hammocks with a view of the mountains…

..and sometimes, a rainbow

Some pix of the Palace at the mid of this previous post, where i practically had the Palace all to myself for five days. It was an unreal experience.

There’s also this video of a coffee-jam session in the Palace kitchen.

Antares has been cool about it. Renewal n stuff. He wrote bout it here. WITH pictures of it in flames.

I gotta say, i’m kinda devastated. Am afraid to go back there, coz i wanna remember it as it used to be. All that’s physically left is d kitchen sink.

Well. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that nothing stays the same.

So squeeze d best out of every experience, and every moment.

Goodbye Palace. At least you checked-out in style.

A comeback celebration

My ol buddy Antares had a lil thanksgiving recently at his village as he almost lost his human body to malaria. Coma n shit.

Always luv da road

Always luv da road

So bought a few beers n hit da road with Joyce. Got there in time to observe d makan session being set-up. Was happy to see dat a whole new bunch of pups have been born. Different mum, but they look d same like d last bunch. Same dude must be bangin all d bitchis in da hood.

Da pups are at d stage where they luv playing n running, but are shit when it comes to balance. Hilarious!

Village chill

The Raya holidays was a blast. Hence, no blog entries. Havin too much fun. Haha

Managed a two-day excursion to Kuala Kubu Baru / KKB, my fave spot in da world. Thanks to Tiffany who had keys to a hut in the Orang Asli village of Pertak, which lies next to the Pertak River.

So we loaded up with extra-strong imported beers, a bottle of Smirnoff, white wine n BBQ pit. The idea was to chill of course.

I’ve stayed in Pertak before, courtesy of an old friend, Antares. And have stayed by Chilling River (further up the road) as well, in a bungalow, and in tents on d riverbank. They all rock. KKB’s Selangor River is also a great spot for rafting. Grade 3 to 4.

Arrived later afternoon, and was welcomed by a bunch of dogs n pups.

Nameless

Nameless dude. Dam cute. A month old

The bitch squirted out 9 pups! Jeez, dats why she so skinny now. One died, so 8 left, if anybody wants.

Our pad was a little bungalow in d village. It was perfect. Fridge, sink, beds & porch – dats all u need.

Swim-swim, drink-drink, bbq-bbq. Nice-nice. Hope to do it again real soon.
