Like many humans, I like booze. Coz it loosens the world up, and am a bit of a bohemian i guess
So this is about booze, the good life, and all related stuff (as well as travel, coz booze n travel = good mix!).
I’ve been a writer all my workin life. From writing law essays in university, i switched to writing lifestyle and travel features as a journalist. Like many others, i was a late bloomer and worked on my drinking skills in my late teens, beginning with the legendary Night Train Express!
i spent most of my writing years at The Star’s Saturday pullout, WeekEnder, writing on travel, adventure, F&B, lifestyle and bars. i was somehow awarded a professional scholarship and was sponsored to the University of Cambridge as a Press Fellow by the British Foreign Office in 1998. Haha. Nice ol’ pubs there.
In 2004, to shake sum shit up, i volunteered on a one-month mission to Kandahar, Afghanistan, with Mercy Malaysia. The experience changed me, coz Afghanistan is alcohol-free.
Been a DJ (house, tribal) and a bartender as well. My more popular cocktails include Kelapa Rock, Deep Red Shit and The Yeltsin Boogie.
Have organized several underground parties that appeared on the front pages for the wrong reasons!
i now run a marketing agency called SPiN (www.spin.my) with a partner, n still write for publications as a freelancer.
.
The blog
I started this blog in mid-April ‘09 to pursue my hobby of drinking, and i aim to become a celebrity drinker. Haha! I’d rather become a professional drinker than a professional bartender, as bartenders dont drink for a living.
COCKTALES is consumer, trade, and event-based. It will also feature everything from drinking accessories & paraphernalia, cool bar-deco, toddy joints, drunk travels, unconventional interviews with industry people, alcohol launches & events, and reader’s stories. It’s not associated with any particular alcohol company.
I hope it’s gonna be lotsa fun. And I aim to contribute to the education of drinkers in Malaysia, a maturing beverage market.

See u out there!

Been meaning to checkout Fitou. Bumped into the owner recently. I assume its one of d outlets with a deck overlooking the lake. Great spot.
I hear there’s Spanish pork too.
Will definitely make a plan to go for Friday or Saturday afternoon / evening drinks this month!
