Bacon vodka?

I’m all for variety in drinks, but this might be pushing it. There’s been flavours marketed like bubble-gum, tea and grass (not weed, tho an acquintance is workin on dat, the criminal).

But checkit –Bacon-flavoured vodka is d new rage in Seattle.

Wats the mixer for it? Mafuckin mustard??

Goddam.

Drink your meat. No need for lok-lok after boozing anymore

Talk about double-haram.

Mmmmmm…… baaacoonn. I luuv bacon man, wat it being a hangover cure n all. Its da shit. But aint sure bout gettin drunk on bacon. And dont know how many bacony beverages i could down.

We’ll need to create a new phrase to replace pissed drunk:  pigged drunk.

Mabuk babi?

I’d rather keep my meat on d plate and outta my fuckin glass. But then again, it could be soo dam good dat i’d OD, n die.

Bakon vodka is by Black Rock Spirits, Washington. There’s an FB group too. More than 6,000 meat-hungry fans. Its only available in US at d mo. Supposedly it makes a good bloody mary.

I bet d bacon will taste fucked once u eat it

But its dead easy to make yourself. There are DIY tips online. If u do, pls lemme try.

I’ll bring d mustard.

Smirnoff nails it again

Checkout the world’s current top booze brands.

The world’s best-selling liquor, Smirnoff, continues its domination. Last week, it was placed number one again at the top of the Power 100 charts.

Intangible Business researched nearly 10,000 spirit and wine brands across the globe to produce The Power 100, now in its fifth year.

Premium brands didnt do too well. Out of the top 100 went Dom Perignon and Tattinger. New entrants are Svedka (vodka, Sweden) – comin in straight in at number 46, Russian Standard (54), Wyborowa at 59, Aperol (70), Clan Campbell (73), William Lawson’s (78), Clan MacGregor (89), Three Olives (94) and Wild Turkey (100).

Who da man

‘The biggest brands have taken quite a battering, marking the end to a 15 year drive to premiumization. This has been replaced with a drive to value which new entrants are taking advantage of. Vodka is still a high growth area with fewer barriers to entry and greater consumer choice,” says Stuart Whitwell of IB.

The brands are rated according to share of market, future growth, premium price position, awareness, relevance, heritage and brand perception.

Wines didnt do too good.  Only two wine brands, Gallo and Concha y Toro, got into the top 20. Seven US wine brands and five Australian labels made the Power 100, but only one European wine was on the list: Spain’s Torres Wine.

Other big climbers in The Power 100 include Cuban rum Havana Club (up seven places to 25);  and Cognac brand Rémy Martin (up six places to 27).

Johnnie Walker remains the world’s leading whiskey brand at number 2 in The Power 100, despite seeing its score fall by 20%, keeping it ahead in the whiskey sector from Jack Daniel’s (6 overall), Chivas Regal (8th), Ballantine’s (10th) and Jim Beam (15th).

Bacardi, the number one rum brand and number 3 in the overall The Power 100, came narrowly behind Johnnie Walker, but comfortably ahead of Martini Vermouth in 4th place and Hennessy in 5th place. Capt’n Morgan slashed his way into the Top 10 by gettin rid of Bailey’s. I never knew Bailey’s was waay up there!

Climber, now at 25

The Top 10:

1. Smirnoff

2. Johnnie Walker

3. Bacardi

4. Martini Vermouth

5. Hennessy

6. Jack Daniel’s

7. Absolut

8. Chivas Regal

9. Captain Morgan (yeah! Go Cap’m!))

10. Ballantine’s

New in travel retail

Coupla new drinks comin out real soon.

These are exclusive to travel retail (for now), meaning only available at airports / duty-free.

Beam Global Spirits & Wines is comin up with Laphroaig Double Cask 20 Year Old – matured for 18 years in hogshead barrels and then in quarter casks for the last two years.

Its ABV is 46.6%, but is only available at Paris. Haha. Potong

The regular Laphroaig (single malt, pronouned la-froig) is kick-ass. Had it only once so far at Sid’s, courtesy of a BYO by my friend Gleeson. Taken straight, its crazy smoky n smooth as silk!

m

Absolut (Pernod Ricard) is launching Berri Acai, a new flavoured one which combines three berries from four different continents: Açaí from South America, blueberries from North America and Europe, and pomegranate from south-west Asia. (Pomegranate is wat grenadine, the reddish cocktail ingredient, is made of.)

Sounds refreshing! I’d have it with soda & a squeeze of lime.

The launch will be backed by a visual campaign inspired by blues clubs, with the dark-blue colour as the lead theme. This is Absolut’s 12th flavour.

Expect to see it in airports by June.

Illyquore hits town

Coffee junkies – i know they’re lots out there – can get a double-high with coffee liqueurs, courtesy of two legit drugs – caffeine & alcohol.

Coffee liqueurs are limited to two major brands – Kahlua (Mexico) & Tia Maria (ABV Jamaica). Well there’s a third now in Malaysia – Illyquore from Italy.

Its ABV is 28%, and is normally taken over ice. Some like it with milk, and is used in cocktails too. Or as a digestif (post-meal).

Nothing very Arabic about it

Illy is known for its coffee, now booze as well. The liqueur has adopted the Illy’s Arabica coffee taste, and added sugar & alcohol.

It launched recently at Pavillion’s Illy Espressamente, a cute modern cafe on the outside. Stupid-ass brain forgot to bring my camera. And most of d official photographer’s shots are of food. Huh?

Obviously he’s not a drinker.

Luv d bottle, real sleek.

Its said to be the only coffee liqueur on the international market without added aromas and/or colouring. Its beans are 100% Arabica. It’s easy to drink on the rocks.

Illy worked together with another Italian giant, Campari, to produce this product. It was launched in Italy in 2008.

Coffee cocktails

At the launch, various cocktails were served. Cold and hot!

llyquore (pronounced Illy cure ray) will be available at bars and retails. RRP is $118.

Brain damage: 8.5/10

.

On a related matter…

I think i had too many cocktails that evening. The cocktails were made from coffee and the alcohol added in was also coffee-based. So double-whammy. Tho we left at 8pm, i was buzzing in bed till 6am! My buddy Henry was trippin till 9am. Amazing.

Dats wat happens when ur not a regular coffeehead.

I suffered serious caffeine overdose / intoxication. There were some bad trips, such as these. Freaked out. I was tense, jittery, depressed, and not knowing why. Haha! Worst part was the rambling, uncontrollable mind. People have been hospitalized. But u seriously need to drink a lot to o/d.

You can kill someone by makin ’em drink too much coffee. Like 50 cups. And from my experience, its def a torturous, confusing way to die! Real slow too.

U learn sumtin new everyday.
