Swag Bar & Grill

In a cool bungalow near a pool is Swag (03-7932 2307), which opened a few months ago. It’s a food and beverage outlet, with the restaurant on the ground floor and the bar / party spot and balcony upstairs.

The bar area is a tight, loft-like spot with black walls and various types of cool furniture. Tunes at Swag are cool, mostly house. There’s a DJ console as well.

The huge Mojito comes with a double shot of rum

Tried a few of the bar’s cocktails, starting with Ask For Pegu, which is Tanqueray gin, Triple Sec, Angostura Bitters, and fresh lime. ($26, all prices nett).  A soothing drink, opined my review partner. It tastes like an aperitif, with bitter-herbal flavours.

The Green Boblin ($25) is awesome stuff. Refreshing with a clash of flavours. It’s minty, melony, a little on the sweet side, but well-tempered by the vodka. It’s a combi of two shots of Smirnoff, one shot of Midori, and a mint-herb mix. Named after bartender Bob.

The Boblin

Didn’t really try the food items on the menu – it ranges from bruschetta, burgers, steak, roast chicken, grilled lamb, skewers, etc. Menu looks very interesting, and you can have the food upstairs if you prefer.

Beer prices are reasonable, with 3 Guinness pints for $60 nett. And all prices shown on the menu are nett.

It now opens for brunch/lunch on Sats and Suns. Ladies Night is every Wednesday, and Quiz Nights Tuesdays. Happy hours are 4-8pm. (Closed Mondays)

All cocktails are made with premium spirits. No Klang piss in cocktails here, unlike some established bars.

Swag is located in PJ Palms sports centre, near Waikiki Bar, and the FB page is here. Checkitout.

Conservative morons

I think everybody knows what happened last week. The Oktoberfest event that was due to take place at 1Utama’s outdoor car park was forced by MBPJ to move indoors because a few guys who aren’t allowed to drink made noise about our right to drink.

Fuckdatshit.

Where MBPJ forced the event to

Where MBPJ forced the event to

Anyway, I’ve started a petition about it here – https://www.change.org/p/the-selangor-government-respect-malaysians-fundamental-liberties

Pls read, and sign if u agree. But also SHARE, and get your buddies to help out too. If we don’t hit the targeted signatures, the petition won’t be goin out. And expect to get increasingly screwed for any future party / event.

Tiger Beer launched the Tiger FC viewing parties for season 2014/15 of the BPL, at a huge party at Souled Out Sri Hartamas. This is year 11 of the TFC. Pretty enjoyable, with a carnival-like atmosphere, despite some rain. Two matches were screened.

Fans of the game will be able to catch Tiger FC events all over the peninsular, with 200 games being screened in total.

I tried out a new game-time app that Tiger introduced for it's viewing parties. Loved it, as you can guess scores, partake in real-time forecasts during the game, etc. User-friendly, and i dig the interface and interactivity. It's called Gameday, and make sure you use it at the next party. There're prizes too of course.

Oktoberfest time

Yup, that time of the year, which also indicates that Party Season 2014 is fast approaching.

Cool set-up

Cool set-up

Guinness Anchor Bhd’s Oktoberfest kicked off in style at The Tavern, the brewery bar. The Tavern’s been pimped up recently, and looks & feels a lot better.

Guests were treated to various drinks under the GAB stable, including Smirnoff Ice, as well as good German grub.

The highlight of the launch was the unveiling of the country’s largest fibreglass beer mug. Am not talkin bout a mug that’s the size of a bucket.

Let’s just say if filled with beer, it would knock out a neighbourhood. The mug’s gonna go on a nationwide tour too, for the “Guess the Litre” challenge.

The top 5 participants that provide the correct or closest estimated volume of liquid the mug can hold, win a year’s supply of Tiger Beer.

Hmmm. How much beer is that?

Yup, you could tread beer inside

Oct 16: Desa Sri Hartamas
