Like many humans, I like booze. Coz it definitely loosens the world up, and am a bit of a bohemian i guess
Like many others, i was a late bloomer and worked on my drinking skills in my late teens, beginning with the legendary Night Train Express! I spent most of my writing years at The Star’s Saturday pullout, WeekEnder, writing on travel, adventure, food, drinks, lifestyle and bars.
Re the scene, been a DJ (house, tribal) and a bartender as well. My more popular cocktails include Kelapa Rock, Deep Red Shit and The Yeltsin Boogie. Have organized several underground parties that appeared on the front pages for the wrong reasons!
The blog – Coz fun is serious business
I started this blog in mid-April ’09 to pursue my hobby of drinking, and i aim to become a celebrity drinker. Haha!
COCKTALES is consumer, trade, and event-based. It also features everything from drinking accessories & paraphernalia, cool bar-deco, toddy joints, drunk travels, unconventional interviews with industry people, alcohol launches & events, and reader’s stories. It’s not associated with any particular brand, company or outlet. I dont get paid for anything.
It won Best Blog in the ‘Best of 2009’ by JUICE magazine. Haha!
It’s been lotsa fun.
Malaysians are getting more adventurous with their drinking. What’s next is for us to be more discerning in our own personal taste, which means knowing what you like and appreciating it even more. And if you want, move on and evolve from there.
Some people try to force a change in drinking habits, but if you ask me, if a guy likes his beer with ice, so what! This is Malaysia. Every country is different. Of course you should impart them information – what they do with that knowledge is ultimately for them to decide.
And I aim to contribute to the education of drinkers in Malaysia, a fast-maturing beverage market..
See u out there!

Sawadee Krup from Thailand!
A colleague just introduced me to your site and I salute you for your great blogging about alcohol in Malaysia. The next time you come to Thailand please let me know and I will be happy to host you a tour of our alcohol beverages.
Chaiyo to you!

Hey Thirstyblogger,
You have a cool website about booze and drinking. You did a blog post about Sarawak tuak and that was cool. Anyway, as a person interested in wine, I would like to recommend you this interesting website which happens to be a wine search engine/online wine magazine worth checking out. Do you know that more than 36,000 wine shops, wineries, distributors and importers are listed in Wine-searcher.com? Anyway here is the link (you would be surprised to find lots of wine stores and wineries in Asia listed in that website) : http://www.wine-searcher.com/wine-searcher.lml
Hey Deep, i think last i saw you in BU with susan all was 6 years ago??? Holla!
Susan? Probably 10. Sorry who dis?
Chanced upon your blog, and justtt wanted to clarify that Tuak is NOT moonshine.
That would be Langkau.
And if you can live through 70-80 bottles of that i will slaughter a wild boar in your honour and present it to you atop a garland of hornbill feathers.
Haha thanks! Wild boar rocks
