Laphroaig scores

Laphroaig Scotch Whisky was recently voted best single malt by The Whisky Shop.

Da shit

Among the single malts, i luv dis one d most for now. My buddy Gleeson once brought a bottle to Sid’s, and i had a few. It’s one of the rare occasions that i enjoy sipping a whisky straight-up, coz its that good. Smoky-ass shit, from Islay.

The one selected here is the Laphroaig (pronounced la-froig) Quarter Cask (48% abv). Havent tried it, but seen it at duty-free. It retails for about 175 online.

Other winners:

Non-peated Highland whisky: Old Pulteney 12-year old

Island whisky: Talisker 10-year old

Lowland whisky: Auchentoshan 12-year old

Speyside whisky: BenRiach 12-year old

Sherried whisky: Glenfarclas 105

Premium whisky: The Dalmore 18-year old

LAPHROIG FTW!!! I have a 10YO at the wedding. :D The Quarter Cask is AWESOME BTW.

Oh, and Lagavulin 16YO is pretty damn great as well.

175 Ringgit or USD? Do you know how much it retails for at duty free (I’m assuming KLIA?)

Not a huge fan of Talisker, but Laphroaig is certainly one of the most interesting single malts.

Lookin forward to your wedding then!
175 ringgit online. Am not sure about KLIA, but KLIA/LCCT are one of the most expensive duty-frees around, whether u buying Scotch or Mars. Will check with my single malt specialist and get back to u

    Laphroaig, FTW indeed !

the peatiness is evident in it, and was about to also suggest the Talisker 10 for those who like it before I noticed it too got voted as the best island whisky.

for sherried whiskies, the Glenfarclas 105 is good, but i much preferred the Glenmorangie Burgundy Casked, which sadly is no longer in production. Still have a bottle in my cellar though.

a dram, one of these days, perhaps.

A Laphroig 10-YO is RM160 in KLIA. A Quarter cask should be more expensive.

OK. I think 10-YO is 130 in Bangkok Intl

I really do not get why people even go for blended malt when single malt is like 100 times better. Tried Laphroaigh before. Though not a fan of islay whiskey myself (prefer speyside), it was certainly one of the most interesting whiskeys ever along with the lagavulin 16 as 1 of u mentioned.
